A currency transaction tax is a tax levied by a country that issues a currency on all the trades in that currency worldwide at very low rates e.g. 0.005 percent. This tax is proposed by a variety of movements, including ATTAC, the Tax Justice Movement, and other alter-globalization movements.
The currency transaction tax is considered the most likely form of the Tobin Tax to be effective in practice.
